New Google feature could affect your SEO & PPC efforts

It appears as though Google will be changing the landscape of the way PPC and SEO campaigns are run. This is bad news for business that already spend a heap on Pay Per Click campaigns, but good news (in my opinion) for local business competing in an already saturated or highly contested market. It basically means that organic search listings will take precedence over paid listings. From a usability point-of-view this is preferable as you will be able to see businesses around you that can service your needs.

SOLUTION:

  1. Create a Google profile
  2. Fill out all required business information in your profile
  3. Ensure that you add your Domain details, logo, relevant keywords
  4. Ensure your business is located on the map
  5. Publish your profile. See example here – http://www.google.com/profiles/indietech.aus

PS – if you’re a tradie… The above is mandatory. Ensure you are listed and have your own profile in Google.
